The defence secretary for Pakistan was fired on Wednesday by the prime minister because of a dispute over a memo sent to Washington that has angered the army. This dispute has escalated a crises putting the civilian government against the powerful military leadership. The Army warned Pakistan about "grievous consequences" as a result of the argument, which is hampering U.S. efforts to rebuild shattered ties with the nuclear armed nation that are needed to negotiate an end to the war in the neighbouring Afghanistan.
I think that firing the defence secretary was a wise move on the prime ministers part. If the defence secretary has pretty much started a war with another country then he/she deserves to be fired. Hopefully Pakistan can find a way to negotiate this problem and not have a war with the U.S. There is already many problems being dealt with in the Pakistan and Afghanistan region and we don't need another one. It was a smart choice to fire the defence secretary and hopefully things will change for the better.
