Intelligence officer charged with passing secrets to foreign interests

Officer Paul Delisle is 40 years old and has been working with the Canadian military for almost a decade now. The officer works as an intelligence officer at the royal Canadian Navy's HMCS center in Halifax. He has just recently been charged with passing government secrets on to the Russians. This charge is the first ever laid Under Canada's rarely used security of information act, which was passed after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The maximum penalty for this charge is life in prison. There is no telling what and how much information The Paul Delisle passed on to the Russians. The place were Paul works gathers and analyses information for warships. The most critical problem here is that were Paul works as a nerve centre for information from Canada and the United states. Its a huge problem and this man will defiantly be serving a long time in prison.

I really don't know why anybody who has been serving with the military for a decade would share any kind of information with another country. This man should be ashamed of what he did. The government and many other people have trusted him with top secret information for ten years. I am sure that this man will serve a long time in prison, as he should. I also feel that if there were to be any terrorist related attacks in the near future, this man would probably take most of the blame for it. I still cant understand however why he would share any information with the Russians after being so loyal to the Canadians for so long. This man got what he deserved by spending time in prison. He should be ashamed of himself and maybe our military should be more carefully about who we trust with such important information.

Pakistan fires defence secretary, escalating clash between government, military
Wednesday January 11, 2012
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/pakistan-fires-defence-secretary-escalating-clash-between-government-military/article2298665/

The defence secretary for Pakistan was fired on Wednesday by the prime minister because of a dispute over a memo sent to Washington  that has angered the army. This dispute has escalated a crises putting the civilian government against the powerful military leadership. The Army warned Pakistan about "grievous consequences" as a result of the argument, which is hampering U.S. efforts to rebuild shattered ties with the nuclear armed nation that are needed to negotiate an end to the war in the neighbouring Afghanistan.

I think that firing the defence secretary was a wise move on the prime ministers part. If the defence secretary has pretty much started a war with another country then he/she deserves to be fired. Hopefully Pakistan can find a way to negotiate this problem and not have a war with the U.S. There is already many problems being dealt with in the Pakistan and Afghanistan region and we don't need another one. It was a smart choice to fire the defence secretary and hopefully things will change for the better.

Bombs kill another nuclear scientist in Iran
Wednesday, January 11, 2012
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/bombs-kill-another-nuclear-scientist-in-iran/article2298424/

There has been four deaths of nuclear scientist in the past two years due to bombs and terrorism in Iran. The most Recent death of Mostafa Ahmadi has brought much attention from America.

Mostafa Ahmadi was a Iran university professor working at a key nuclear facility when one day a bomb was attached to his car by two assailants on a motorcycle. The bomb killed the professor and one other person.  It is suggested that these killings were an effort to stop Irans Atomic program. This killing had a very strong resemblance to earlier killings that took place. These killings make it clear to see that some Iran people are not very happy with the Atomic program that is taking place.

I think that killing people and planting bombs to people cars is no way to show that you don't want something to happen. If the Iranians don't want this Atomic program to happen they should pretest or argue for there beliefs. not plant bombs and kill people. I feel awful that these innocent scientists were killed getting in there car to go home from work. Something is seriously wrong in Iran and I think that the Americans or use Canadians should try to help figure out a solution in Iran to end these violent killings.
