There is a debate about a new law regarding the ability to fly the Canadian flag. The law states that anybody who trys to stop someone from flying our national flag will be either fined or sentenced to jail. This law will just add to Stephen harper's efforts to re-brand Canada and its symbols. Harper believes that this is a good way of creating more public expressions of pride in the country and presenting history through a conservative lens.
I think that this is a great new law to have. People should definitely show off our country's flag. It let's others who see the flag know that we are proud to be Canadian. Anybody who try's to stop someone from showing off Canada's flag clearly isn't proud of where their from and should receive some sort of punishment, whether it be a fine or a jail sentence.
